Trafficlab’s Smart Engineering Featured as Gold Sponsor at Traffic 2026
5 October 2026Urban Tech 2026 – The Urban Technology Show, the new event dedicated to e-mobility, traffic, commuting, security, TLC & data, and the environment, took place at BolognaFiere from 7 to 9 October 2026, achieving positive results.
Urban Tech 2026 brought together several trade shows and international conferences, including E-Tech Europe 2026 (advanced batteries and innovative technologies for the manufacturing and recycling of electric and hybrid vehicles for the automotive, transport, and industrial sectors); E-Charge 2026 (the EV charging industry and market, charging points and stations, technologies, and services); Traffic 2026 (traffic management, safety and enforcement, smart roads and smart cities, intelligent mobility, parking solutions, and public and collective transport); and Wireless & Towers 2026 (transmission towers, strategic infrastructure, telecommunications technologies and equipment, broadcasting, satcom, security, smart cities, and territorial management).
From 7 to 8 October, the event also featured EXPÒL, a new thematic area dedicated to the professional development of Local Police officers and commanders, focusing on urban security management and organised in collaboration with IUSPol S.r.l.s., as well as secsolutionforum 2026 – The Innovative Event for the Security Industry, organised by Ethos Media Group.
Running concurrently were Asphaltica 2026 (road surfacing and construction, organised by Siteb) and Saie 2026 (building and construction, organised by Senaf).
Urban Tech 2026 welcomed 208 exhibitors from 12 countries: China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, the United States, Switzerland, and Taiwan.
The conference programme was particularly rich and featured high-level speakers and content. In the electric vehicle sector, the Stati Generali della Ricarica (General Assembly on EV Charging) attracted considerable attention on the first day of the exhibition, providing an up-to-date overview of the sector and examining the key issues shaping its development.
Other conference sessions addressed a range of topical issues, including Italy’s supply chain for energy storage equipment and systems; the outlook for Italian electronic components (hardware, firmware, and software); autonomous driving and V2X; the challenges of Smart Road services; the electrification of off-road vehicles; and end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), with a focus on regulations, the market, and economic sustainability.
The second day saw the successful Battery Day, the second edition of the conference and event dedicated to the battery industry. Topics included the technological maturity of Italy’s battery supply chain, critical raw materials, research and technology transfer, and battery recovery, reuse, and recycling.
Urban Tech 2026 also explored wireless communications and related infrastructure, 5G Broadcast and its prospects for content creators, Direct-to-Device technology and low- and medium-Earth-orbit constellations, Italy’s industrial supply chain for wireless communications, private cellular networks, the local dimension of wireless connectivity, and the integration, coexistence, and competition of wireless technologies with WAN networks.
As Urban Tech 2026 draws to a close, it is time not only to take stock of the results but also to look ahead. “We are very pleased with this first edition of Urban Tech, which has laid the essential foundations for significant future growth,” said Marco Pinetti, the exhibition director. “The next edition will take place in November 2027, over two days, alongside two other events in our portfolio with a strong focus on technology.”
