MICROREX at Expòl 2026: innovative video surveillance and security solutions for public administration
4 October 2026Mobility challenges range from temporary issues — such as a road closure due to construction works, a public event, or a major gathering that brings traffic in large parts of a city to a standstill — to structural challenges that persist for years, such as the need for a roundabout or traffic light to regulate a dangerous intersection, or the need for parking spaces to serve residents in a neighbourhood.
These are complex situations, the very same challenges that the Trafficlab team analyses and manages every day through its innovative Wetraffic platform. Its growing success will be showcased and discussed at Traffic 2026, the event dedicated to traffic management, road infrastructure, smart roads, safety, parking, public transport and smart mobility, taking place in Bologna from 7 to 9 October, where the company will be present as a Gold Sponsor.
Wetraffic is a fully cloud-based suite that helps public authorities, mobility operators and traffic managers make both long-term planning decisions whose impact will last for years and immediate decisions that affect mobility in real time.
Its modular architecture means that the functionalities needed immediately can be activated and made available to those responsible for making decisions and taking action, while additional modules can be enabled at a later stage as the needs of a given area evolve.
Wetraffic leverages data collected from multiple sources — including connected vehicles, various types of sensors such as cameras and radar, historical and statistical databases, and field surveys — and turns this data into intelligent, clear and actionable insights, providing effective responses to a wide range of information, analysis and management needs.
The solution delivers a number of benefits, including optimised traffic flows, reduced congestion and queues, shorter parking search times and, consequently, lower emissions. Ultimately, its overarching goal is to improve the quality of life in urban areas.
With offices in Alba (Cuneo) and Milan and a team of 10 professionals with specialised expertise, including traffic engineers and experts in data analysis and software development, Trafficlab was founded with the aim of improving the efficiency and sustainability of urban, suburban and corporate environments through the design and implementation of smart mobility systems.
The company helps turn the concepts of the smart city and smart road into tangible solutions, starting with a qualitative analysis of traffic data and progressing towards the creation of safer, more reliable and more sustainable mobility systems.
At Traffic 2026, Trafficlab founder and CEO Andrea Marella will take part in the panel discussion entitled “Data Fusion and AI for Urban Decision Support”, scheduled for 9 October from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in Sala Galvani, Hall 21.
Marella will focus on the Wetraffic suite and on how it harnesses artificial intelligence across its various applications, also drawing on the experience of several case studies already implemented.
“Whether they are large cities or small municipalities, local authorities need tools to manage traffic more effectively and improve citizens’ quality of life. Wetraffic, already chosen by more than 200 public and private clients, continues to evolve in response to the needs emerging from the field, and we want to bring it even closer to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. At Traffic, we will share this journey with everyone working every day to make mobility more liveable”, says Andrea Marella, CEO of Trafficlab.
