Gruppo D’Auria: the compact electric bus

With the next edition of Traffic coming up, scheduled to take place from 7 to 9 October 2026 at BolognaFiere, we are republishing the interview with Isidoro D’Auria of Gruppo D’Auria, conducted on the occasion of last year’s edition.

“We are distributors of electric vehicles and at Traffic 2025 we presented a 35-seat electric urban bus, including both seated and standing passengers, with a range of 300 kilometres. Its main feature is its compact size: it is just 2.10 metres wide, making it particularly suitable for urban centres. We are currently bidding to supply eight electric vehicles to Pantelleria, Linosa and Lampedusa as part of the European ‘Green Islands’ project, supported by PNRR funds.” Two of these vehicles were delivered less than a month ago.

This was explained by Engineer Isidoro D’Auria of Gruppo D’Auria, a network of three industrial companies operating in the bus sector. Their combined expertise has provided a wide range of products, services and assistance for forty years to those who make passenger transport their profession.

A growing market

According to Gruppo D’Auria, the market is growing rapidly, while public funding is driving the development of electric mobility. Costs are still high at the moment, but this was also the case initially with every new technology.

And what about the future? “It is important for funding to remain consistent, and this is why the role of policymakers is crucial,” says D’Auria. “When PNRR funds come to an end, we will therefore need to take other measures to support the Italian market, where electric vehicle registrations are growing strongly.”
