A €500 million investment to support sustainable mobility in major urban areas. The measure introduced by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security is now operational and will finance initiatives aimed at reducing emissions and improving the quality of urban life.

The initiative seeks to strengthen Mobility Management, enhance local public transport and collective, shared and on-demand mobility services, support sustainable urban logistics, encourage and stimulate demand for sustainable mobility, and improve the regulation and management of urban mobility.

The objective is to accelerate improvements in air quality and reduce the environmental impact of transport in areas with the highest traffic density and the greatest demand for mobility.

“With this decree, we are making significant resources available to help the cities most affected by air pollution turn a corner,” said Gilberto Pichetto, Minister of Environment and Energy Security. “Investing in sustainable mobility means improving air quality, protecting citizens’ health and making urban centres more liveable and modern. This is a concrete measure that combines environmental protection, development and quality of life.”

Innovative mobility solutions will be presented at Traffic 2026, the international exhibition and conference dedicated to traffic management, infrastructure, safety and enforcement, smart roads and smart cities, intelligent mobility, parking solutions, public and collective transport.

The event will take place as part of Urban Tech 2026 – The Urban Technology Show, the new exhibition dedicated to e-mobility, traffic, commuting, security, telecommunications & data, and the environment, scheduled from 7 to 9 October 2026 at Bologna Exhibition Center.
