On-demand mobility: reform would have an economic impact of €2.4 billion
17 June 2026How can artificial intelligence and real-time data analysis help make cities safer? This question is at the heart of AIS4UM – AI Safety 4 Urban Mobility, a European project focused on urban mobility safety and road risk prevention.
The initiative is co-funded by the European Union, the Italian State, and the Lombardy Region under the Regional Programme ERDF 2021–2027. Its goal is to develop advanced technological solutions to make urban travel safer and more informed, with particular attention to vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists.
Intelligent technologies to understand the city in real time
The project is based on the integration of connected systems, artificial intelligence, and real-time data analysis to interpret what happens in urban environments and anticipate potential risk situations.
The objective is to support a more advanced management of urban mobility by improving the responsiveness of digital infrastructures and contributing to the reduction of road accidents through the use of continuously updated information.
AIS4UM is being developed by a consortium of technology companies collaborating on smart mobility solutions, including Fastweb, BIP, FifthIngenium, Invisiblefarm, Quantia, and Vodafone Automotive.
The companies involved bring together expertise in telecommunications, digital consulting, artificial intelligence, and connected mobility solutions, with the aim of developing tools capable of dynamically reading and interpreting the urban context.
Towards More Connected and Safer Cities
The initiative represents another step toward transforming cities into intelligent ecosystems, where data and digital technologies become tools to improve road safety and enhance urban quality of life.
The ambition is to build a more efficient and conscious mobility model, in which technological innovation goes beyond traffic management and contributes concretely to risk prevention and the protection of road users.
The innovative mobility solutions developed within the project will be presented at Traffic 2026, the international exhibition and conference dedicated to traffic management, infrastructure, safety and monitoring systems, smart roads and smart cities, intelligent mobility, parking solutions, and public transportation.
The event will take place within Urban Tech 2026 The Urban Technology Show, the new exhibition dedicated to e-mobility, traffic, commuting, security, telecommunications & data, and environment technologies, scheduled from October 7 to 9, 2026, at BolognaFiere.
